The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee confirmed it last night.
Eid Al Adha falls on Wednesday, May 27. Three public holidays. Plus Saturday and Sunday. A five-day break.
You have nine days.
Nine days to decide whether that block of time becomes a trip, or whether it disappears the way it did last year. Goat haggling on Tuesday. Three back-to-back family lunches Wednesday through Friday. A weekend of leftover meat and a vague sense that you wasted the holiday.
Most Karachi families don’t book a real Eid Al Adha family trip because they think it’s too late. They’re half right.
It’s too late for a brochure.
It’s not too late for a custom trip.
Why the package agencies just stopped answering
Call any package agency in Karachi this week and ask about Maldives for May 27.
You’ll get one of three answers.
“Sir, package finished. Full booking ho gaya.”
“Sir, we can do, but only this hotel, only this date, only this routing.”
Or they’ll quote you a number that’s 60% higher than what the resort is actually charging, because they’ve already bought their block at last month’s rate and they’re not flexing for one family.
That’s the package model showing its seams under pressure.
A package is built six weeks before peak season. The agency locks in 40 rooms at one hotel, one airline, one routing. When that inventory sells, they don’t reach out to the hotel for ten more rooms. They reach for the next family on the list and tell them it’s sold out.
The hotel still has rooms.
The airline still has seats.
The agency just doesn’t have the relationship to pull them at short notice.
What 9 days actually buys you
Here’s what’s still bookable for a family of four from KHI for the May 27 window, as of this morning.
| Destination | Realistic spend (family of 4, 4-5 nights) | Flight time from KHI | Visa |
| Maldives (mid-luxury resort) | PKR 14-22 lakh | ~10 hrs with one stop | On arrival |
| Phuket or Krabi | PKR 9-14 lakh | ~7-8 hrs with one stop | On arrival, e-VOA |
| Dubai or Abu Dhabi | PKR 6-10 lakh | ~2.5 hrs direct | 14-day eVisa, 2-3 days |
| Bali | PKR 11-16 lakh | ~10-11 hrs with one stop | Visa on arrival |
Maldives is the family headline this Eid. Two specific reasons.
Anantara Dhigu is running an early-summer rate that includes complimentary airport transfers for stays through October 15, 2026. Kids club, two pools, halal-friendly dining, plus access to sister property Anantara Veli for the parents who want a quiet dinner without the seven-year-old.

Niyama Private Islands was ranked the top family resort in the Maldives for 2026. Children eat free until age 12 on all menus. The kids club takes children from age 3 without parents, which at luxury level is rare. Two islands connected by a footbridge. Seaplane in, about 40 minutes from Male.
Neither is in any brochure being WhatsApp-forwarded around Karachi right now.
The flight problem nobody tells you about
There are no direct flights from Karachi to Male.
Every routing goes through Colombo, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or Doha. The cheap fare you saw on Skyscanner last week probably has a 14-hour layover or arrives at 2am, which is fine for a backpacker and a disaster for a family with a six-year-old.
This is where Rahat’s Qatar Airways years actually matter for your trip. She knows which routings give you a workable arrival window, which connections protect your bags if a leg delays, and which “cheaper” tickets are cheaper because they put you in a hotel-less layover at 3am in DXB.

We’ve been routing Karachi families through these airports for two years. Some of them booked with us the first time after a Turkey trip went wrong for the founder. Others came because their cousin’s package family of four ended up in three different cabins on the way back.
The point is the same. The routing is the trip. Get it wrong and you spend day one recovering instead of swimming.
What to settle before you book
Before you say yes to any agency, custom or package, write down these answers for your family. Without them you’re guessing.
- Hard dates. Is the trip May 27-31, or are you willing to fly May 26 night and return June 1 morning? An extra leg-day at either end can drop the airfare 20%.
- Halal level. “Halal-friendly” means different things at different resorts. Some have one halal restaurant. Some are fully pork-free with halal-certified meat. Spell out which one you need.
- Kids’ ages. A three-year-old changes everything. Some resorts won’t take under-twos seriously in the kids club. Others have nannies bookable per hour.
- Connecting flights vs straight through. A 2-hour Doha layover is different from a 9-hour Dubai layover. State your tolerance.
- Budget ceiling, all in. Including the speedboat or seaplane transfer in Maldives, which can be USD 400-700 per adult round trip and is the single biggest hidden cost of the trip.
If you can’t answer all five in five minutes, you’re not ready to talk to a travel agent. You’re ready to talk to a custom planner who’ll ask you these five questions first.
The honest part
We can’t promise everyone reading this gets the trip they want for May 27.
What we can promise is a custom quote within 24 hours, free, with no pressure to confirm. If we can’t get you a routing and a hotel that fits your family’s actual needs, we’ll tell you that. We’ve turned families away from Maldives this week and pointed them to Phuket or Abu Dhabi because the maths didn’t work for them.
That’s the part the package model can’t do. A package has to be sold. A custom plan has to fit.
Karachi families don’t have time for back-and-forth WhatsApp chains. The DHA mother who messaged us yesterday at 11pm got her first draft itinerary at 11:40pm the same night. That’s not a flex. That’s the standard.
Tell us your dream Eid Al Adha family trip. Your first custom quote is free, within 24 hours, zero pressure.
P.S. The seaplane operators in Male start blocking out departure slots about a week before peak inflow. For May 27, that block starts roughly Thursday this week. After that, you can get the resort, but you might be on a 6am seaplane on arrival day. Move now.
P.P.S. If you’ve already given up on a real trip this Eid and are mentally settling for two days at a Hawksbay farmhouse, message us anyway. We’ve done weekend Abu Dhabi runs (fly Wednesday morning, back Sunday) for under PKR 6 lakh per family. The trip is still possible. The decision is yours.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is 9 days too late to book a Maldives trip for Eid Al Adha?
No, but the window narrows every day. Resorts still have inventory, seaplane slots are bookable, and routings through Colombo, Dubai, Doha, or Abu Dhabi all have seats. What you lose by waiting another five days is choice. The best routing and the best hotel rate go first.
Are flights direct from Karachi to Male?
No. There are no direct flights from Karachi to Male. All routings connect through Colombo, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or Doha. Average total travel time is around 10 hours one way. Picking the right connection is the difference between arriving fresh and arriving wrecked.
Is Maldives halal-friendly for Pakistani families?
Yes, with caveats. Maldives is a Muslim country and alcohol is restricted to resort islands only. Most resorts offer halal-certified meat and have at least one fully halal restaurant. Confirm the halal certification level with the specific resort, not just the brochure.
What is the cheaper alternative if Maldives is over budget?
Thailand for the same window. Phuket or Krabi from Karachi runs roughly PKR 9-14 lakh for a family of four for 4-5 nights at a mid-luxury hotel. Shorter flight, halal options well established, and Eid week is still off the worst monsoon stretch.
