The government has said the charge would sit inside your airline ticket rather than at an immigration counter.

September Rain Is A Map Problem, Not A Dealbreaker
This is where people panic and cancel.
September is genuinely wet on the Andaman side. Phuket and Krabi take the brunt of the southwest monsoon, which is exactly why the villa is discounted. Swing east to the Gulf islands, or north to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, and the same weeks behave completely differently.
Same country. Two different holidays. The date on the calendar decides nothing on its own. The coast you pick does.

Insurance exclusion zones. Australia’s Smartraveller advisory, still current at 25 August 2026, advises against travel within 10 kilometres of the Thailand-Cambodia land border across Sa Kaeo, Buriram, Si Saket, Surin, Ubon Ratchathani, Chanthaburi and mainland Trat, citing armed clashes and landmines. Thaiger notes that Koh Chang and Koh Kood sit inside that advisory footprint even though they’re calm, which can affect what your policy covers. Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Krabi are outside all of it, and land crossings to Cambodia stay closed.
